Day #3 started off with a cab ride and carbonated water that no enjoyed...
We arrived for our scheduled tour at the Vatican/Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica.
These faces have no idea what is about to happen.
We toured the Vatican first.
I'm so glad we went. However, it was hot and there were AAALLLOOOTTT of statues. It was hard to keep track. Ha!
After the Vatican tour and the Sistine Chapel (no photos allowed)
We headed out to wait for the tour for St. Peters Basilica.
It was so HOT and we were waiting and waiting.
It appears the Pope decided to hold a last minute celebration.
It was so hot and we weren't sure if we were going to get in. We discussed leaving because we were hot and the girls were bored.
Then we got the news:
We were in!
What we didn't know was we were actually going to catch the end of the Pope's celebration!
We were there with Pope Leo!
What a moment! It was truly so moving and emotional.
After the celebration, we were able to enjoy the beauty.
Shoutout to this most amazing guide!
She worked so hard to get us in there.
After a small bit of shopping for Holy Water, the top of my shopping list for Italy, we walked out to find food.
But these guards. Damn, I loved their uniforms!
Pretty good combo
Some of us were done and HOT and desperately needed showers.
Others ventured out for one more amazing meal before we were on to our next adventure.
