Caution: Picture Overload
I've decided to make this one post.
About a year ago, we decided to spend this past Thanksgiving on a cruise.
We invited my mom, Tracy, and Emily to join us.
It ended up being a very eventful vacation. Not one we would like to repeat anytime soon.
It started Sunday morning when we received the email that we were delayed boarding by an hour.
We weren't sure what was going on but we headed to the port.
We boarded the ship with no issues and waited to leave port. Waited and waited.
Everyone was wondering. Finally at 7pm they came over the loud speaker.
On the way back to Baltimore, the ship started having engine troubles.
They had been trying to fix it all day. Unfortunately, they couldn't.
They needed to take the ship to the maintenance "garage" to be fixed. This happened to be in Freeport, Bahamas.
They canceled the two other ports and were only going to Freeport.
They offered people to get off the ship for a 100% refund. Or offered to stay on the ship for a 100% future cruise credit. It's still a cruise, right?
So we stayed. We spent the next 3 days at sea. It was uneventful.
We saw lots of show, ate lots of food, and played lots of games.
We spent Thursday in Freeport. It was ok.
They were experiencing a cold front. It was 70 degrees but still not what you want for a beach day.
The next two days were at sea as we headed back to Baltimore. But we hit horrible weather with high winds and big waves. It was a very bumpy road back to Baltimore. Many were sick and the ship was rocking!!
But we made it back safe and I think it will be some time before we head out on another ship.
