Chinese New Year!

Happy Year of the Pig!!
We kicked off the beginning of New Year with a vacation day for me and the girls rocking their New Year attire.
Ava chose to get a shirt with her year on it instead of wearing traditional Chinese wear.

Happy New Year from my Rabbit and Rat!

I started my day in Ava's class. 27 ten year old's!
This year we took in dumplings for them and they were a huge hit!

We took in the itchy lanterns and they were messy! But the kids loved them!

I spent the afternoon with Addy's class. We did the same thing but they didn't love the dumplings as much as the popcorn and chopsticks!

It was a good day with the kiddos. Unfortunately, we didn't have the time to go out for Chinese like we normally do. John was working and Addy had another obligation! Coming soon!

Valentine Boxes!

Mother Nature has been super crabby lately so we've had some days home from school or work.
Therefore, we had plenty of time to get our Valentine boxes done!
I think they are very fitting to their personalities!
Ha!

Roller Skating

Out of the blue Addy started asking to go roller skating. Then asked and asked. Then was offended I made her go to school instead of taking her skating. So naturally I looked up the closest rink and found out times for open skate. A quick message to Katie and Heather (unfortunately Heather and Ella couldn't join) and we met at the rink on Saturday morning.
There was lots of wall holding, hand holding, falling separate and apart and TONS of laughter. Mostly from Katie and I. We were cracking up at our brave girls!
We did find out before open skate on Saturdays, they have lessons. Once things slow down, I can see many more Saturday mornings at the rink!

Baking Session

The girls had awesome report cards so we took them to the book store to pick out something new.
Addy chose a Mom and Me cookbook. She has been scouring the recipes and decided on her first one. Animal cupcakes!!
Ava Kate wanted in on the fun and made her own chocolates!

Ava's chocolates!

Ava helped Addy decorate the cupcakes

I loved how they turned out! Puppies, sheep and pigs! Ha!

While they were baking, I was working on my own little project. Addy has had a horrific cough for weeks. I have tried meds, oils, Vicks, and the Dr.
Nothing was working so I moved on to a recipe my neighbor sent me.
Homemade cough syrup.
I made a jar of it and then made some popsicles.
She LOVES the popsicles!
Unfortunately it hasn't exactly cured the cough but it's much better!

Pizza 101

We heard of this super cool pizza place that hosts Pizza 101 for kids on Saturdays!
The owner is the husband of one of my friends.
The girls put on their aprons and chef hats and back in the kitchen they went.

They got to roll the dough and spread it out. Ava's fell on the floor so she became a dough head.

Next they got to put their pizzas together. Everyone made their own and got to pick their own toppings!

After some time in the over, they girls were able to enjoy the goods!
The parents really enjoyed their food too!

Dental Day for the Ho Girls!

Both of the girls had dental appointments in the same day.
One went well, the other did not.
I should have had John take Addy.
We started the day at the orthodontist with Ava. They added 3 more brackets to her teeth.
She had some discomfort afterwards but did really well.
Addy had to have 2 teeth pulled.
I'm pretty sure the people across the street from the dentist office were wondering what was going on with all of the screaming. She did not handle it well. But after it was over, she was completely fine and has been. That girl!

Friends

The girls always seem to be conspiring to see each other.
We don't fight them and try to make it happen as often as we can.
Because lets be honest, the Mama's want to hang out too!
Within two days, we made a lunch and a dinner happen.
Everyone was happy!
