We just returned from an amazing 6 night cruise on the Carnival Conquest!
We left out of Fort Lauderdale and headed to an Eastern Caribbean cruise.
Unfortunately flights were super expensive so we loaded up the Yukon and headed South.
Yes, we drove from Ohio to South Florida.
Let me say my kids are freaking amazing. There was not one complaint or one I'm bored.
We were told in a timely fashion for bathroom breaks. I was so proud of them!
We were pretty excited when we saw our first palm tree in Georgia!
We took two nights to get down there and while we were posting our journey on Facebook, one of John's high school friends reached out. She lives in Florida and is a fellow adoptive mom, also a mom of a Down syndrome daughter and a mom of an addict. We had LOTS to talk about.
I gave her a heads up that I wasn't pretty from driving but she still wanted to meet and agreed to meet at one of our favorite restaurants in Florida, Mellow Mushroom!!
It was great meeting new friends!
We stopped on Saturday night in West Palm Beach for the 2nd night, which was about 45 minutes from our port.
Therefore we had time to kill before we headed to the ship.
I took the time to show the girls where Uncle Nate started his sobriety journey.
First up was the Palomar Apartments. This is actually transitional housing and the first true home Nate had after being released from jail. He lived in these apartments for many months while he gained ground. His first job was within walking distance as he didn't have a car.
Next up was the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Boca. He walked here every day for months. It was a gorgeous hotel and it was so nice because he got a mean discount when we would go visit!
After the "history lesson" as Ava called, we headed south to Fort Lauderdale. We still had some time before check in so we wandered to the beach and found an amazing pier!
After the constant begging we headed to the ship! These girlies were super stoked to realize they had hit GOLD status!
After dropping off the luggage, we headed to Lido for sushi and for the girls to swim! They were so excited!
We had a wonderful first day and night! This was a jam packed cruise with straight islands four days in a row. First up was Nassau, Bahamas! Stay tuned!
