Hocking Hills - Day 1 [Shopping at Easton and Uncle Carl]

John and I had been talking for awhile about renting a cabin in Hocking Hills. John loves to camp. Me? Not so much. We figured this would be a good compromise. Ha! We invited Aunt Emily along for weekend. We took off early Friday morning and headed to Columbus first. It was tax free weekend in Ohio and decided we would take advantage at Easton!

But we decided to make a pit stop first to see Uncle Carl, who lives in Columbus. He was at work but it's a super cool place so we were excited to visit! He works at the Josephinum in Columbus. It is a college that prepares men for priesthood.

We also got to meet Uncle Carl's friend, Jan. She works with Carl and is from China! She offered for us to come back to Columbus sometime and she would teach us to make traditional Chinese dishes.

After we said our goodbyes we headed over to Easton. First stop, lunch at the Cheesecake Factory! Our favorite! We don't have one in Toledo so always visit when we can.

And we may have indulged in some dessert.

After lunch we headed out to the shops to get Ava Kate ready for school. After shoe shopping (officially a big kid at a size 1!) and clothing shopping we were ready to call it quits.

We loaded in the car at headed to Logan in Hocking County. After a quick stop at the local Walmart for last minute needs, we drove the winding and hilly roads to our cabin.

We LOVED our cabin. It was a little smaller but the absolute perfect size and so clean. Perfection. We did "rough" it when it came to meals. Everything (but one breakfast) was cooked over the fire.
The first night we kept is simple and made hot dogs and brats.

We saw numerous deer the first night. But never again. John and I are pretty sure it was because of the noisy kids! Ha!
