Houghtaling Happenings

There's been ALOT going on in the Houghtaling Household. While we are trying (repeat, trying) to get used to life without Uncle Nate, we've still been super busy. Ava's activities keeps us busy among other things. Monday night, John and I went to a kickoff dinner for the YMCA scholarship campaign. We are both on the committee to raise funds to help the kids. If you are interested, let me know!! My neighbor, Kelly kept Ava for us. Luckily she lives close...Ava drove us home!!

Tuesday came cheerleading and then a trip to a special store which started John's Wednesday project. I've been wanting to paint the kitchen for awhile. And when I mean awhile, like since we moved in. John has been on my case about picking out a color. I wanted to step out side the box...Anyone who has been to my house knows that my whole house is brown, tan, neutral. I admire all the cool colors in other houses, magazines, but never got the courage. And then I did. It just happened. So, we picked out a color for the kitchen. And I LOVE it!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! Even Ava said "It's so beautiful"! The color??? Check it out!!

For Christmas my cousin Lisa (Lisa Feather Photograghy) made me a calendar. Imagine my joy this morning when I flipped to February and was greeted by this sweet little face.
What I wouldn't give for one more snuggle with this little baby. Because we all know and love the fact that Ava "is NOT a Baby!!!!!" Imagine this screamed at a high volume...

Last night Ava and I assembled Valentines and Chinese New Year gifts for her class. It was seriously so cute. She put the coins in the envelope, put the sticker on, and then kissed it and yelled "Happy China!" Man, that girl warms me to the core. And I'm super in love with her Valentine's this year. I love Pinterest!!
After we were done, Ava took to the task of decorating ME!! Um, not my best look...

Update on Uncle Nate: He is doing really well in Florida. He has been super busy getting the place up and running. He is working 12-16 hour days and is exhausted! But he gets the weekend off and will hopefully get some rest. And hopefully, we'll get some Facetime this weekend.

One more thing...I'm not allowed to share yet. But I'm so excited, I have to say something!! I promise within the week you will know. And trust me...for those of you that know us...it will knock your socks off!!

Well, friends, that's all I got today. TGIF! Looking forward to tonight. Ava is cheering at the basketball game and then we are going to pizza with friends! And a special baby shower this weekend. And I think there is a football game this weekend? How do I know that? I was asked to buy squares by a guy at work. I did...wouldn't it be funny if I won!!

Have a great weekend, loveys!!
